I had already used the scanner under simple user in ubuntu and it all worked. Scanning obviously is still somewhat of a mystery even in the newest distribution of OpenSuse It is correctly identified using lsusb: How to get this scanner to work with Ubuntu So I’m just posting here as the final resort to see if there is anyone who has a fix or who has been able to get this scanner working.
Trying to use an application like SimpleScan give me an error telling me that it is unable to connect to the scanner. Bus Device This time it said there was no scanner available.

HP scanjet c not detected under Hardy. One of my weakest points in computing is networks so I would very much appreciate it if someone could guide me through this process. I also tried installing gp, but it doesn’t even recognize the printer I’m guessing HP doesn’t support hardware that old.
